    Deal Analytics

See every deal in your pipeline as a group: what they cost, what multiple they carry, what your CIMs keep telling you, and how your deals stack up against the market.

    Where to find it

Go to Reporting in the sidebar, stay on My Reporting, and open the Deal Analytics tab. It has three views that share one set of filters:

    • Portfolio: summary numbers and charts for every deal in the filter.
    • CIM Deep Dive: the numbers from every CIM you have analyzed, side by side.
    • Compare: two or three deals head to head.

Your filters, view and compare picks are saved in the page address, so you can bookmark a view or come back to it after a refresh.

    Filtering your deals

Start with one of the four presets at the top:

    • Active: every deal that is not Dead, including Closed deals.
    • Dead: only the deals you have killed.
    • Reached LOI+: every deal that got to LOI Sent or further, whether it is still alive, closed, or later died.
    • Everything: your whole pipeline.

You can narrow further by stage, industry, state, price band, when the deal was added, starred deals, or deal label. The All / SDE / EBITDA switch limits the view to deals that report one kind of cash flow. On a phone, these filters sit behind a Filters button. The line under the filters tells you how many deals match and how many of them have a CIM.

Reached LOI+ and older dead deals

Searcher OS began recording the furthest stage each deal reaches in September 2026. For deals that died before then, we only know how far they got when there is evidence, such as a recorded LOI or a completed CIM. Dead deals with no evidence are left out of Reached LOI+, and a note under the filters tells you when that may be happening.

    Which numbers we use

A deal can carry the same figure from up to three places. We pick in this order:

    1. Your own edit on the deal, marked edited in the tables.
    2. Your CIM, marked with a CIM badge.
    3. The broker listing.

A few rules keep the numbers honest:

    • Headline numbers are medians, so one very large deal cannot drag the whole picture. Hover a number to see the average.
    • A median needs at least 3 deals with that number. Below that you will see how many more you need instead of a misleading figure. Every tile also shows how many deals it covers, for example "18 of 20 deals".
    • SDE and EBITDA are never mixed silently. When all counted deals report the same kind, the tile says SDE or EBITDA. Otherwise it says Cash flow and shows the split, such as "5 SDE, 5 EBITDA, 9 unlabeled".
    • A multiple (asking price divided by cash flow) below 0.5x or above 20x is almost always a data error, so it is left out of the stats.

    Portfolio

Portfolio gives you the shape of your deal flow:

    • Headline tiles: median asking price, revenue, cash flow, multiple, and margin (cash flow divided by revenue).
    • Price vs multiple chart: one dot per deal, colored by Active, Closed, or Dead. Deals high on the chart are priced richly for their earnings.
    • Breakdowns: deal count, median price, and median multiple by industry, state, and stage.
    • Deals you killed vs deals you kept: appears when your filter includes at least 3 of each, along with your top kill reasons. Use it to spot patterns, such as the deals you pass on being consistently more expensive.
    • Deal table: sortable, with a checkbox on each row for Compare. Click a row to open the deal.

    CIM Deep Dive

This view shows only deals with a completed CIM analysis. If you have analyzed more than one CIM for a deal, the most recent completed one is used. To add a deal here, upload its CIM from the deal page. How CIM analysis works.

    • The CIM table lines up reported and adjusted EBITDA, add-backs, margins, growth, customer concentration, owner dependency and hours, years in business, revenue per employee, and risk counts. Adjusted EBITDA uses the scenario you picked in the CIM's EBITDA audit.
    • Shading compares each deal to the other deals in view, not to a fixed standard. Green marks the stronger end and amber the weaker end for that column. For example, lower add-backs are green and a larger top customer is amber.
    • Pattern cards call out what repeats across your CIMs, such as "Key person flagged in 3 of 6 CIMs" or your median add-backs. Click a card to sort the table by that column.
    • Revenue trend puts every deal on the same scale, starting at 100 in its first reported year, so growth is easy to compare.
    • Risk matrix shows which risks appear in which CIMs and how severe each one is.

Pattern cards and shading appear once you have at least 3 CIMs in view.

    Compare

Tick 2 or 3 deals in either table, then click Compare in the bar at the bottom of the screen. Compare lines the deals up in columns and marks the best value in each row with a check. A lower multiple, a higher margin, and a smaller top customer all count as better.

Rows are grouped into sections you can collapse:

    • Headline: price, revenue, cash flow, multiple, margin, industry, state, days in pipeline, stage.
    • Market: how each deal is priced against similar listings (see below).
    • Earnings quality, Growth, Risk: from each deal's CIM. Deals without one show "No CIM".
    • Financing: DSCR, down payment, annual debt service, and cash-on-cash return from the deal's saved calculator. Run the calculator on a deal to fill these in.

    Deals vs Market

Searcher OS tracks tens of thousands of business listings. Deals vs Market places each of your deals' asking multiples against listings in the same industry and price band first seen in the last 12 months. You will see it in three places:

    • On the Multiple tile, as your median next to the market median for your mix of deals, and the gap between them.
    • On the chart, as a shaded band showing where the middle half of the market sits.
    • In the tables and Compare, as a line like "Pricier than 70% of similar listings".

"For your mix" means each deal is measured against its own industry and price band, so a $3M HVAC deal is not compared with a national average made up mostly of small businesses. When fewer than 15 listings match a deal's industry and price band, we widen the comparison to the whole industry, then the whole market, and tell you when we did.

These are asking prices, not sale prices

Market figures come from listing prices. Businesses often sell for less than they are listed for, so treat the market line as a guide to how a deal is priced, not what it will sell for.

Some deals are left out of the market comparison on purpose:

    • Estimated numbers. If the listing's price or cash flow was estimated rather than stated, the deal shows "Estimated numbers, no market comparison". Entering your own figure on the deal, or analyzing its CIM, brings it back in.
    • Under $100K cash flow. Very small businesses trade at different multiples, so these show "Under $100K cash flow, no market comparison".

These deals still count in your own Portfolio numbers. When they make your comparable deals differ from your full set, the Multiple tile shows both, for example "Your 33 comparable deals: 3.9x".

    Common questions

Why do I see "Not enough data" instead of a number?

Fewer than 3 deals in your filter have that figure. Widen the filter, or add revenue or cash flow to your deals by editing them or analyzing their CIMs.

Why is a deal missing from CIM Deep Dive?

It has no completed CIM analysis yet, or it does not match your current filters. The line under the table tells you how many deals in the filter have no CIM.

Why does a number differ from the broker listing?

Your own edits and your CIM take priority over the listing. Look for the edited or CIM badge next to the number.

Can I compare more than 3 deals?

No. Compare holds up to 3 deals so every column stays readable, including on a phone.
