What is CIM Intelligence?
CIM Intelligence is our AI-powered document analysis tool. It reads Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) and automatically extracts key data points, saving you hours of manual work.
Requires a paid plan
CIM Intelligence isn't available on the Free plan. You'll need an active subscription to upload and analyze CIMs.
How to Upload a CIM
- Open the deal you want to analyze (from your Deal Funnel or My Deals) to reach its detail page
- Find the Documents section and open the CIM & Teasers panel
- Click Upload CIM
- Select your PDF file (max 50MB)
- Wait 30-60 seconds for processing
- Review the extracted data and analysis
Supported File Types
We only support PDF files. If your CIM is in Word or PowerPoint format, convert it to PDF first.
What Gets Extracted
Our AI extracts the following fields from CIMs:
Financial Metrics
- Revenue: Most recent year and historical (3 years if available)
- EBITDA: Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization
- SDE: Seller's Discretionary Earnings (owner salary + EBITDA)
- Asking Price: Listed sale price
- Gross Margin: Percentage
Business Details
- Location: City and state
- Industry: Business sector/category
- Years in Business: How long the company has operated
- Employees: Full-time and part-time headcount
- Real Estate: Owned vs. leased
Risk Analysis
- Customer Concentration: Top customers as % of revenue
- Revenue Trend: Growing, flat, or declining
- Owner Transition: Will owner stay post-close?
- Key Person Risk: Business dependency on specific individuals
Accuracy and Limitations
Extraction is highly accurate on well-formatted, broker-prepared CIMs, but some documents are harder to parse than others. Always verify the numbers against the source document.
When Extraction Works Best
- PDFs with selectable text (not scanned images)
- Standard CIM formats (broker-prepared documents)
- Clear financial tables and headings
When Extraction May Struggle
- Scanned/image-based PDFs (poor OCR quality)
- Non-standard layouts (e.g., pitch decks instead of CIMs)
- Missing financial statements
⚠️ Always Verify Extracted Data
While our AI is highly accurate, you should always verify critical numbers against the source document. CIM Intelligence is a time-saver, not a replacement for due diligence.
Using Extracted Data
Once a CIM is processed, the extracted data flows into:
- Deal Summary: Financial overview written back to the deal page
- Calculator: Auto-populated inputs for SBA loan and deal modeling
Re-uploading CIMs
If you receive an updated CIM or the first extraction wasn't accurate, you can upload a new version. Previous versions are saved in the document history.
Privacy and Security
All CIMs are stored securely in encrypted storage. Only you can access your uploaded documents. We never share or use your CIM data for any purpose other than providing analysis to you.
Troubleshooting
Upload Failed
- Check file size (must be under 50MB)
- Ensure file is PDF format
- Try again, since occasional upload errors can occur
Extracted Data is Wrong
- Click the edit (pencil) icon next to the value to correct it yourself
- Your edit is saved as an override, with the original AI value kept in the field's history
Processing Takes Too Long
- Large CIMs (100+ pages) can take 2-3 minutes
- If stuck for 5+ minutes, refresh the page and try again
